From Financial Crisis to a Fresh Start for this Army Family

For Bianca, creating a safe and stable home for her family has always been a priority. As an Army veteran who served from 2010 to 2016, Bianca understands the importance of perseverance and commitment. But when her family experienced an unexpected loss of income, the stability she had worked so hard to build was suddenly at risk.
Just before the financial hardship began, Bianca and her family had made a major decision to move into a new apartment outside the city. They wanted to provide their children with what they believed would be a safer and more comfortable environment to grow up in. However, the move also came with a higher monthly rent, and that increased housing cost made the family ineligible for many local assistance programs.

At the same time, Bianca was working as a contract employee. Although the position provided a higher income, it lacked the stability she wanted for her family. When she was offered a salaried position, Bianca made the difficult decision to accept the new opportunity, believing that a more stable job would ultimately put her family in a stronger financial position.
Despite her best efforts, the transition came with challenges. Unexpected expenses continued to accumulate, while her husband remained without employment. The family worked hard to manage their finances but eventually found themselves facing an impossible choice.
By the summer, Bianca had to choose between keeping a roof over her family’s heads and keeping their vehicle.
The family was able to secure assistance that covered their June and July rent, but the financial sacrifice came at a steep cost. Their vehicle was ultimately repossessed, leaving the family without reliable transportation. With August rent approaching and their financial situation still uncertain, Bianca feared that another missed payment could put her family at risk of eviction.
She knew she needed help and reached out to America's Warrior Partnership (AWP).
AWP worked to understand Bianca’s circumstances and identify resources that could meet the family’s specific needs. Because many local programs were unable to assist, however, AWP connected Bianca with a national resource, the TD Foundation.
Through that connection, Bianca received assistance with her August rent.
The support arrived at a critical moment, helping the family avoid eviction and remain safely housed. For Bianca and her children, it meant having the security of knowing they could stay in their home while she continued working toward a more stable financial future.
