Increasing a veteran’s disability rating can have a significant impact on their quality of life. A higher rating often means greater monthly compensation, access to enhanced healthcare through the VA, eligibility for additional benefits like housing assistance, educational support, and caregiver resources. It also provides recognition of the true extent of their service-connected conditions, offering both financial stability and emotional validation.

In November 2024, Ryan, a Navy veteran who lives in Arizona, got the opportunity to speak with Cassandra, DNP’s program lead, to increase his disability. Cassandra did not hesitate to assist Ryan, who was at 40% with his disability at the time. They set a date and time to meet and get all his papers together, and his VA forms were submitted.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.

Months went by while Ryan was waiting to hear from VA. Finally, in June 2025, Ryan received a letter from the VA stating that his increase was approved and he is now at 100%. He and his family were so grateful and notified DNP of the great news.

Having a veteran receive his earned benefits is something to celebrate. For many veterans, this increase is not just about money, it’s about receiving the support they need to live with dignity after their service.
