Leaving the military with an honorable discharge is a moment of pride, marking the end of one chapter defined by patriotism, service, and sacrifice. But for many veterans, the next steps, such as finding stable housing and rebuilding a civilian life, -can feel uncertain and overwhelming. Yet, it’s in this transition that a new mission begins. It’s a journey not just of survival, but of growth and resilience.
Andrew contacted AWP after getting out of the Army because he needed help with the first month’s rent for his new apartment in Cincinnati after paying his security deposit. He had a job lined up at the local car dealership, but hadn’t started yet at the time he was moving in, so he was still waiting for his new income to start and was stretched thin after the moving costs after his service ended.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.
Andrew worked with The AWP Network to find a program to help him out while he’s reintegrating into his new job and apartment. With each challenge met: securing a place to live, building a new routine, and reclaiming his future, Andrew proves once again what it means to serve with strength and purpose, even off the battlefield.
