When seeking treatment for a condition or ailment, patients often have a variety of choices to consider. What works for others may not work for some, so freedom of choice is crucial when it comes to rehabilitation.

Louise, a 26-year Air Force veteran, was initially referred to AWP by USA Cares after seeking support to obtain an Alpha-Stim device. This device is a prescription-based, non-invasive medical tool that uses Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) to deliver mild electrical currents to the brain via ear clips, aiming to reduce anxiety, insomnia, depression, and pain by balancing brainwave activity and neurotransmitters.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.

She had already reached out to another veteran-serving organization (VSO) for help, but was told she did not meet the eligibility requirements for assistance. Determined to find a solution, her Network advocate, Elizabeth, continued exploring options and identified an alternative path forward.

After searching through our partners, Elizabeth found another VSO who was willing to help. Thanks to that connection, she was approved not only for the Alpha-Stim device, but also received a $500 gift card to cover any additional accessories she might need. This outcome ensured that she gained access to the tools essential for her well-being and reinforced the power of persistence, as well as the importance of a supportive network.

“You pushed me to apply and reminded me about the applications. Thank you for that!”

-Louise
