We have quite a few updates to share since our last community update!
First, we would like to give a shout out to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office for sharing data dating back to 2014. This is a huge success for OpDD, and we are elated to share this data back to the broader community.
Along these lines, Monique and Katie presented a preliminary analysis of all local suicide data to date with the Mayor’s Challenge Team in November. We collectively requested an in-depth analysis from the University of Alabama Research Team to inform partner programs.
Lastly, the Houston team is currently in the process of hiring a new Research Assistant (RA) to solely conduct interviews with community members who have lost a loved veteran to suicide/self-harm. Katie will now focus on interview recruitment and relationships with medical examiners and community partners.
