Christina is a post-9/11 United States Marine Corps veteran who served honorably from 2003 to 2007, including a deployment to a combat zone. During her service, she was awarded the Purple Heart for her actions in combat. Today, Christina resides in Colorado, continuing to navigate the challenges that followed her military service.
Those challenges intensified when her vehicle, her only means of transportation, suffered a power steering failure after a flat tire. Unable to afford the necessary repairs, Christina was left without reliable transportation, cutting off access to essential medical care and severely limiting her ability to pursue employment opportunities at a critical time. This is when she reached out to America’s Warrior Partnership.
“For over six months, I was without my car, something that completely disrupted my life. It wasn’t just the inconvenience of not having transportation; it was the stress and uncertainty of not knowing when or if I’d be able to get it repaired. All of this happened while I also found myself homeless and wondering if I’d have a roof for my puppy and I to sleep under each night.” Christina shared.
With support from PureTalk’s Deeds Not Words initiative, Christina was able to get her car repaired and regain a sense of stability. This assistance proved to be more than a mechanical fix - it was a turning point that helped her begin rebuilding her life.
“To everyone at America’s Warrior Partnership and PureTalk: please know that your support means the world to me. You’ve done more than help me fix a car; you’ve helped me find steady ground again.”
Deeds Not Words is a collaborative initiative between PureTalk and America’s Warrior Partnership (AWP), dedicated to providing tangible support to veterans in need. Through PureTalk’s continued commitment, veterans like Christina can access help through the AWP Network when they need it most.
