DNP’s March 2026 Food Drive Impact

In February 2026, Dine Naazbaa Partnership (DNP) started planning for its second annual food drive on Navajo Nation. By utilizing an email and social media campaign, we spread the word to our local veteran and surviving spouse community, encouraging them to register to receive a free box of food. In order to reach those who are not active online, we also reached out to the veterans and families we know from working with previously to ensure they were registered and aware of the delivery process and urged them to share the information with others.

Ever wondered what $10 could do? It can save the lives of veterans like the one you're reading about in this story. Donate $10 a month and help us reach veterans before a crisis occurs. Together, we can do better. Our veterans deserve better.
Leading up to the event, DNP, along with America’s Warrior Partnership, worked tirelessly behind the scenes with our partners to get food donated and shipped ahead of distribution day. Thank you once again to our partners who helped donate, pack, and distribute food. We had a total of 13 organizing partners who contributed over 100 volunteer service hours, including: America’s Warrior Partnership Corporate Veteran Initiative, Double Tree by Hilton, USAA, Wells Fargo, and Wounded Warrior Project. In total, we distributed 14,000+ pounds of food to over 200 Navajo families.
The food drive was held on March 6, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Karen, Dine Naazbaa’s Veteran Support Advocate, arrived at the Senior Citizens and Veterans Building early to prepare for the truck filled with food boxes to arrive from Phoenix at 8 a.m. With families already lining up in preparation, the volunteer staff set up a drive-through-style receiving line, and everyone left with kind words to share with DNP.
Special thanks to Amelda James, who picked a few boxes to drop off at local veteran homes, as well as our media partners who came out for on-site interviews.
