Community Integration in Action: GI Bill Troubles on Navajo Nation

Updated: Jun 29, 2022

The Diné Naazbaa Partnership (DNP) met an Army veteran during a food drive in May 2021 out in Shiprock, NM. She mentioned that her GI bill would not pay for her tuition. After researching her specific issue, DNP connected her with a local Navajo agency that specializes in the GI bill.

In an effort to provide holistic support and ensure this veteran's needs were met, DNP gave her a recent call to check-in. She was excited to report that thanks to her tuition being paid for, she has since graduated and is working full-time thanks to her new degree. Thanks to the community outreach of DNP, we were able to connect the veteran with local resources and collaborate with a local VSO to improve her quality of life.

"The Diné Naazbaa Partnership has made every step of the way easier for me to understand and complete. They even go above and beyond to get answers to all of my questions. Because I had a supportive team behind me, I finished my education and got my certificate of medical assistance."

With support from caring and passionate donors, Diné Naazbaa Partnership (DNP) continues empowering our community to empower our veterans. Please consider making a donation today to DNP. Your generous, tax-deductible contribution supports DNP's collaborative work on the Navajo Nation to meet veterans where they are, ensuring they are connected to all the resources and opportunities they have earned.
