CI In Action: Disability Claim Support for Navajo Veteran

For many veterans, the paperwork to obtain their earned benefits can be a drawn-out and stressful process. This was the case for Joshua Arthur, an Air Force veteran (’95-’15) in the Northern Navajo region, who needed assistance with this process.

When Joshua learned about Diné Naazbaa Partnership (DNP), he immediately reached out to see what DNP could do to help his situation. Joshua explained that he needed guidance in filing for disability through the VA. After discussing his obstacles and concerns, DNP Community Coordination Associate Karen Shirley began the process. Karen, knowing that this process can sometimes take a long period of time, moved quickly to get Joshua the required forms for a new disability claim.

After an arduous path of paperwork and patience, Joshua finally obtained the disability benefits he had been hoping for, thanks to the help of Karen and DNP. Joshua was grateful for the support DNP provided.

“Thank you, Karen, for a job well done, and making every veteran a priority!” – Joshua Arthur, Air Force Veteran

DNP is always proud to support veterans like Joshua in navigating the difficulties of post-military life. DNP’s assistance helped gain independence for this veteran, who will now receive monthly payments from the VA, offsetting debt and stress over his physical health.

The Navajo Nation is stronger when our veterans are stronger. Connect with DNP to learn more about how you can give back to the Navajo veteran community by visiting our website and completing an online form: http://dinenaazbaapartnership.org/
