Hearts4Leo is an awareness campaign presented by America’s Warrior Partnership to partner with local communities to demonstrate support for our nation's military community.

This is an opportunity to celebrate the veteran and military community by recognizing hometown heroes who demonstrate leadership and dedication to serving others. Every $10 you donate will earn you a heart to recognize a hometown hero or a loved one who served.

The campaign is in honor of the late Colonel Leo K. Thorsness, a Medal of Honor recipient and one of the most highly decorated American airmen of the Vietnam War.

After returning from being a prisoner of war for six years, Thorsness’s life mantra focused on four F’s “Faith, Family, Friends, and Fun.” His mantra lives on through each and every one of us. His birthday was on February 14, which is why we choose to honor him around Valentine’s Day each year.

Please email AWP's Director of Development, Kaitlin Cashwell, for general questions or if you are a business/organization interested in participating.

Add the name(s) of the individual who served in the "dedicate this gift" option so we can recognize them on a heart.

1. Honor

Join us in recognizing a hometown hero living or deceased in your heart. The nominated hero will be recognized publicly in-person through displayed hearts at participating locations or virtually on AWP’s website to show love and support for the veteran/military community.

2. Share

Help us raise awareness of the campaign by engaging others to participate and helping spread the word. Participants will be provided content to help grow the campaign and engage others to get involved, with the goal of recognizing a hometown hero for each day Leo was in captivity.

3. Give

Support us to help grow the mission of building thriving veteran communities across the country and preventing veteran suicide. We cannot do this important work without our dedicated supporters.
