Director of Government Relations
Darrell Owens is the Director of Government Relations for America’s Warrior Partnership (AWP). In addition to serving in this role, Darrell also serves our nation as an Army Reserve officer. Darrell recently returned from United States Army Europe, where he was the Assistant Foreign Policy Advisor and Congressional Liaison. Before joining AWP, Darrell was a staffer in Congress for nearly 14 years. He was recently the National Security Advisor & Military Legislative Assistant for Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA), handling the Senator's military, veterans, foreign affairs, homeland security, and intelligence issue portfolio.
He was born and raised in Waterford, a small town in northwestern Pennsylvania. After graduating from American University in Washington, DC, he worked for the National Energy Marketers Association for two years before joining the Capitol Hill office of Rep. John E. Peterson (PA-05). When Congressman Peterson retired, Darrell joined the office of his successor, Rep. Glenn 'GT' Thompson (PA-05), where he handled Congressman Thompson's military and veterans issue portfolio before heading to the Senate in February 2015.
Darrell joined the United States Army Reserve and has deployed overseas to South Korea, Poland, and Germany. Darrell is also a 2012 graduate of the Air Force Air Command & Staff College and a 2016 graduate of the U.S. Army War College with a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies. Also, Darrell is a 2019-2020 Marshall Memorial Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
